Have you ever made a beautiful card and thought it was missing something, but you just couldn’t put your finger on it? It has happened to me more times than I care to admit. It got me thinking about elements to give a card dimension and texture can give your card the ‘face-lift’ it needs.
With very few supplies, you can give your card depth to really make the colors stand out and give your recipient a card to enjoy for a long time! Here are the supplies you will need:
- Stampin’ Up! Sprtizer
- Blending Brushes
- Ink Pad
- Heat & Emboss Tool (used for one of the weathered techniques)
- Cardstock
There are four techniques
- Using a blending brush, blend ink around edges of cardstock to give it more depth and provides a more “old fashioned” look or a weathered paper.
- Tear the cardstock down one side or all the way around to give the look of an piece of torn paper – this is an easy one because you don’t need any other supplies.
- Using a spritzer, spritz the cardstock with rubbing alcohol or water (either one is fine – alcohol does seem to dry a bit quicker, but that is it), and then crumple the paper in a ball. Gently open the ball of paper to see a weathered worn piece of paper. This technique is my favorite because it gives such great texture and when using the Cactus Cuties Stamp Set, it really gives a “western” look.
- Using the steps in Step 3; however, once unraveled put a few small tears in the paper on certain edges, and then using your heat tool, scorch the edges of the paper (very good idea to hold the paper with tweasers, so your hand is not close to the heat). Also when doing this technique and you are trying to get scorched edges, I would do this by a sink or water 🙂
